Approved Parent Educational Seminar Providers
When a divorce with children is filed, both parties are required by Tennessee law to attend a Parent Educational Seminar as soon as possible after the divorce is filed. The parents are not required to attend the same class as one another, and they are not required to go at the same time.
The Shelby County divorce courts have developed a list of approved providers, which can be found here. The Shelby County divorce courts currently do approve certificates from online classes, but only from the listed approved providers. To minimize the possibility of frustration and delay in getting a divorce, I strongly recommend that my clients attend one of the seminars on the approved list.
